The Nutrition Officer will play a critical role in providing technical, operational, and administrative support throughout the development and execution of nutrition programs and projects in Sindh. The role spans across various phases, from planning and monitoring to reporting and evaluating outcomes. The Nutrition Officer will collaborate with partners and stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and the successful achievement of nutrition program goals.

1. Program Development and Planning:

  • Conduct comprehensive situation analyses within the nutrition sector to inform and guide program development.
  • Analyze political, social, and economic trends to improve the efficiency and delivery of nutrition-related projects.
  • Contribute to setting program goals and strategies based on identified nutrition needs and gaps.
  • Assist in results-based planning for the execution and monitoring of nutrition programs.
  • Work closely with government bodies, including the Health Department, AAP, P&D Department, and SUN Secretariat, to map nutrition interventions.
  • Prepare annual work plans and offer ongoing technical support throughout the project’s life cycle.

2. Program Management, Monitoring, and Delivery of Results:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to identify operational challenges and suggest viable solutions.
  • Track and evaluate the program’s progress, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and donor requirements.
  • Conduct field visits to monitor project activities, address challenges, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Draft and present program reports to management, donors, and stakeholders to ensure transparency.
  • Engage in discussions with national partners and stakeholders to promote nutrition and development issues.

3. Technical and Operational Support for Program Implementation:

  • Perform regular field surveys and assessments to evaluate project progress and offer technical guidance.
  • Provide operational support to government agencies, NGOs, and UN partners to ensure smooth program implementation.
  • Work in coordination with the Government of Sindh to establish strong oversight mechanisms for nutrition initiatives.
  • Assist in organizing public health campaigns like Global IDD Day and Breastfeeding Week by facilitating awareness events and seminars.
  • Support data monitoring and evaluation activities, including the implementation of DHIS2 Nutrition for efficient data collection.

4. Networking and Partnership Building:

  • Foster relationships with government representatives, national stakeholders, and UN agencies to enhance collaboration.
  • Advocate for nutrition programs by creating communication materials aimed at raising awareness and building partnerships.
  • Represent UNICEF in inter-agency meetings to align provincial nutrition strategies and coordinate activities.

5. Innovation, Knowledge Management, and Capacity Building:

  • Identify and share best practices and lessons learned to improve program efficiency and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of nutrition surveys and assessments.
  • Promote innovative approaches and practices that can lead to better program results.
  • Facilitate training programs to strengthen the capacity of government officials and partner staff in nutrition-related areas.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, public health, epidemiology, health sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience working with a UN agency or international organization is highly regarded.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in local languages is an added advantage.
